PeRSo manufacture concludes as Baynhams seeks a buyer

After six years, Baynhams has concluded manufacture of the PeRSo powered air purifying respirator. The certified design, type approvals, tooling and brand are for sale as one package.

PeRSo, the Personal Respirator Southampton, was developed in the spring of 2020 as a collaboration between the University of Southampton, University Hospital Southampton, the Wessex Academic Health Science Network and INDO, the family’s lighting business, which converted its production lines to build respirators within weeks.

The system reached NHS frontline staff across the country that year. From December 2020 Baynhams supplied hospitals, laboratories and businesses directly as sole manufacturer of the PeRSo range. PeRSo 3.2 went on to achieve full BSI type approval, certified to EN 12941 TH2 P under CE 739797 and UKCA 753570, and an upgrade programme migrated existing PeRSo 3 fleets so that systems could serve beyond the pandemic.

What is for sale

The project is offered as one package: the certified design and technical file, the CE and UKCA type approvals, the tooling and manufacturing know-how, and the PeRSo brand with five years of customer history. Enquiries are welcome from manufacturers, PPE distributors and healthcare groups.

PeRSo has done its job. Production has concluded, and we would like to see the project go somewhere it can do that job again.

Existing owners

Units already in service remain type approved. Approval is not withdrawn by the end of manufacture. Owners who need documentation should write to hello@baynhams.com with their organisation name and the revision marked on the unit.
